Industry: Public relations, advertising
Number of Employees: 40-plus
A single office manager nearing retirement handling all HR and administration issues; rising healthcare costs
KGBTexas, named one of San Antonio’s best places to work, is the number one public relations and advertising agency in the area. President and CEO Katie Harvey credits her agency’s competitive edge to good people and brainpower. However, even great employees can threaten operations if they hold too much responsibility.
Harvey learned this lesson firsthand when KGBTexas San Antonio’s long-time office manager decided to retire. Realizing how hard it would be to replace her, the office manager suggested that Harvey consider talking to Insperity.
“It always bothered me to have all of the responsibility of compliance and reporting administrative issues resting on one person’s shoulders,” Harvey says.
Healthcare costs were also a growing concern.
With Insperity, Harvey hasn’t had to worry about the employee benefits her employees receive nor the filing and reporting headaches with which many small business owners grapple.
“The health care is obviously beneficial to everyone here, plus we have access to so many HR tools,” Harvey says.
Harvey considers the greatest benefit of her agency’s relationship with Insperity to be a restful night’s sleep.
“If you’re looking for the cheapest business performance solutions, you don’t need Insperity,” Harvey says. “If you’re looking for the best, however, and for someone to truly make an impact on your business, use Insperity.”
She goes on to emphasize that as important as reporting and compliance issues are, she didn’t want the cheapest company responsible for it.
“I am a believer in investing in my employees. Why wouldn’t I do the same with my business partnership?”
How Insperity helped
- Gave Harvey a team of consistent HR support
- Eased the burden of rising healthcare costs with better rates
